How much does a sod installation cost?

The cost for sod installation varies on a number of factors including the amount of square feet purchased, variety and accessibility to the property.

What does the installation include?

As part of your sod installation we provide professional project management the day of the installation. Our local service provider will arrive with your sod shipment, walk the property with you,  professionally install your sod, clean up and remove debris and pallets and walk the property with you upon completion and answer questions you may have.

Why can’t you quote a price over the phone?

The amount of square feet is needed to accurately quote a job.

How do I determine the amount of sod I will need?

Home Depot provides a square foot calculator on their web-site www.homedepot.com key word sod, click on one of 7 types of sod and it will take you to our calculator for measurements.

What types of varieties are available?

St. Augustine, Zoysia, Bermuda, Centipede, Fescue, Perennial Rye and Bluegrass. Dependent on the state or region of the country you reside we provide the right variety(s) for the job.

What are the common reasons for sod installation?

Enhance the look and feel of your yard, provide an area for children and pets to gather and soil erosion.

What should I expect during the installation?

During the installation, the installer will arrive with the sod and perform a pre-walk of the property with the homowner to determine any nuanced needs. You will professionally lay the sod and clean up debris, scraps and pallets. You will perform a final walk through of the property with the homeowner and get their signoff and approval.

Note: Remove excess sod; defined as ½ pallet or more

Does the homeowner need to be present during the installation?

Yes, at the very least to start the job and at the completion of the job. A final inspection of the job is necessary to complete the quality review checklist with  and go over the maintenance requirements of the newly installed lawn.

What if the customer isn’t at the job-site to start or finish the job?

  • To start the job-Call the farm and have them reach out to the customer before you start
  • To end the job-Cleanup and haul away scrap and pallets. Note on the signoff sheet that the customer was not at the site to finish the job. Take pics  and leave “care guide” at the front door or another obvious location

What if the customer doesn’t understand how to prep the area?

Offer up the tutorial and video link for them to review and prepare the lawn.  You will likely need to reschedule if the area is not prepped.

What if the customer states they didn’t understand they needed to prep ground?

Walk them through the expectation and assess next steps

What if I arrive on the job-site and the ground isn’t prepped?

Crew lead explains the process and offers guidance.If necessary reschedule the job to a later date

What if the customer didn’t measure correctly and is short product?

Advise that we lay what is present and advise them to call farm to reschedule another delivery and install or advise how the customer can secure additional sod at Home Depot and finish the job themselves

What if the customer won’t sign the final walk through document?

Note it as such, take pics and thank them for their business
